The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team opened the season with a five-set victory over Snow College in their first match at the FSW Tournament on Friday.
The Titans won the season opener with a 25-21, 25-22, 25-27, 23-25, 15-11.
Freshman Leyre Arroyo Sanchez tied a school record with 23 kills in the victory, tying Selena Newell and Mariah Lewis who both did it in 2013.
The two teams traded points for much of the first set but the Titans would scored the final four points to take the first set 25-21.
Eastern Florida State College would rally in the second set as they trailed 20-18 but came on strong to win 25-22 as Jordyn Cox had two of her 21 kills to finish the set.
It looked like the Titans would win the match in three sets but Snow would pull out the third set 27-25 and then win the fourth set 25-23 and force a fifth set.
The match was tied 9-9 when Angelis Figueroa had two straight aces to make it 11-9 and then rolled to a 15-11 victory.
Sophia Iglesias finished with 34 assists and 19 digs while Figueroa had 18 digs.
The Titans will play No. 10 Trinity Valley in the second match of the day at the FSW Tournament.
