Men's basketball team edges Miami Dade for conference road win

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team held on for a big Citrus Conference win Saturday on the road.
The Titans won their sixth straight game, edging Miami Dade College 87-86 to improve to 7-3 in the conference.
Sean Register Jr. hit a shot with 54 seconds left to give the Titans an 87-84 lead and Djiby Ly came up with a big steal to solidify the win for the Titans.
Eastern Florida State College led by four at halftime between the duo of Register and Joviel Acevedo-Arroyo who had 15 and 14 points respectively in the first half.
The Titans would stretch the lead to 10 but the Sharks would cut back into the lead and would chip away at the lead, cutting it to one with 5:40 remaining. An Anthony Breland 3-pointer tied the game 78-78 but Register Jr. made a jumper to give the Titans the lead once again.
Miami Dade did take the lead with 3:03 left and led 84-81 before Misael Cruz Rodriguez made a couple of free throws and then Acevedo-Arroyo hit a jumper to give the Titans a lead once again with 1:46 left.
Register Jr. scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the win. It marked the eighth straight game that the freshman has record 21 points or more for the Titans. Acevedo-Arroyo had 18 points and Rodriguez finished with 16 in the win.
Breland finished with 25 points for the Sharks who fell to 5-5 in the conference.
Eastern Florida State College will return to Titan Field House for a conference game against Santa Fe College on Wednesday night. The men's game will begin after the women's game around 7:15 p.m. and admission is free to games at Titan Field House. Fans can also watch the game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
