Women's volleyball team beats Polk State in straight sets

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team defeated Polk State College Saturday in straight sets in the final home match of the season at Titan Field House.
The Titans won the match 25-16, 25-13, 25-14 to clinch a spot in the Region 8 Tournament.
Eastern Florida State College went on a five point run to take the early 6-1 lead and the lead reached eight, 12-4 before Polk State College won five of the next six points to cut the lead to four. A couple of late kills from sophomore Emma Cook helped the Titans pick up a 25-16 win in the first set.
Down 8-7 in the second set, the Titans went on a 4-0 run as Mikayla Lamb had an ace and Cook had another kill. Eastern Florida State College would score the final five points as Lamb had two kills.
In the third set the Titans once again took a 6-1 lead and led 20-9 before Polk State College scored five straight to get into the match.
But once again the Titans rallied back behind kills from Jordyn Cox, Lamb, Sophia Iglesias to score the final five points to win 25-14.
Cox finished with 10 kills in the match while Lamb had eight kills and Diara Gaye finished with seven.
The Titans, who are 12-12 overall, will travel to Miami Dade College on Wednesday evening for the final Citrus Conference match of the season. The match will begin at 6 p.m. in Miami.
