Women's volleyball team falls to No. 1 FSW in four sets
The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team lost a tight match with No. 1 Florida Southwestern State College Wednesday night on the road
The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team lost to No. 1 Florida Southwestern State College in four sets on Wednesday night.
The Titans won the first set but Florida Southwestern tied it and then edged Eastern Florida State College in the third and fourth sets to pick up the Citrus Conference victory 28-26, 15-25, 22-25, 21-25.
Eastern Florida State College rallied back from down 24-21 and tied things 24-24 on a Mikayla Lamb ace. The Titans took the lead on a Madelynne Daugherty kill but FSW tied it again 25-25. Tied 26-26, the Titans would score the next two points and win 28-26.
Florida Southwestern would tie the match with a 25-15 win in the second set.
The third set was close throughout but FSW took a 22-19 lead before another rally from the Titans. Daugherty had a kill and then stepped to the service line and delivered an ace. After a service error, Jordyn Cox registered a kill to make it 23-22 FSW. The Bucs would score the final two points to win 25-22.
Florida Southwestern took a lead in the fourth set and was up as many as six, 19-13 before the Titans made one final rally. Eastern Florida State College would score eight of the next 10 points to cut the lead to 22-21 on a Cox kill.
The Bucs would score the final three points to lock up the win.
Cox finished with 10 kills while Daugherty had nine and Emma Cook had eight kills for the Titans. Lucy Williams finished with 20 digs.
Four Florida Southwestern player had at least 10 kills led by Giovanna Rocha who had 17. Sarah Webb finished with 27 digs for the Bucs.
Eastern Florida State College will host Polk State College on Saturday afternoon in the final regular season home game and the sophomores will be honored after the match. The winner of the conference match will qualify for the Region 8 Tournament.
