Women's volleyball team falls to Daytona State in four sets

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team lost to No. 16 Daytona State College in a Citrus Conference match on Wednesday.
The Titans fell to 2-5 in the conference with the four-set loss, falling 25-20, 25-18, 27-29, 25-20 at Daytona State College.
The Falcons controlled things from the start as they won the first two sets from start to finish.
Down 2-0, the Titans scored the first two points and six of the first eight to take the first lead of the match. Daytona State College would tie things up 10-10 but the Titans continued to match points with the Falcons throughout the third set. Up 24-21, Daytona State made a final run to force the match to continue.
But a Madelynne Daugherty kill gave the Titans the advantage at 28-27 and they held on to pick up the win.
The Titans continued to play well early in the fourth set as Jordyn Cox had some key kills to keep them in the match. But the Falcons would extend the lead and go on to win the match.
Cox finished with 15 kills while Daugherty had 11 and Emma Cook finished with 10 kills. Diara Gaye had nine in the loss.
Daytona State College is now 5-2 in the Citrus Conference.
Eastern Florida State College will have a week off now before traveling to Hillsborough Community College for a conference match on Oct. 15. The Titans will be back home Saturday, Oct. 18 against Santa Fe College for a 2 p.m. match.
