Women's volleyball team posts third straight win at FSW Tournament

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a four-set victory over the College of Southern Idaho Saturday morning at the FSW Tournament.
The Titans 25-20, 14-25, 25-21, 25-18 to win the first of two matches on Saturday.
Diara Gaye and Kira Valeska Heide dictated play early at the net blocking shots and forcing CSI to change angles as the Titans went on a run to lead by as many as four. They would lead throughout the first set, winning 25-20.
The second set was all College of Southern Idaho early as they rattled off five straight points to start and led by as many as nine before the Titans began cutting into the lead. In the end CSI evened up the match 1-1 with a commanding 25-16 win.
The third set was tight for a bit and then saw each team go on little runs as Gaye continued to be a force in the middle for the Titans. Her fourth kill made it 11-11 and the teams would trade points for the next six points until an ace by Angelis Figueroa's ace gave the Titans a 19-17 advantage. Kills from Gaye and Leyre Arroyo Sanchez put the Titans in control late as they would go on a 6-2 run to finish the third, winning 25-21.
The Titans went on a huge run in the fourth set, taking a one-point lead to a 15-6 lead, cruising to victory.
Leyre Arroyo Sanchez led the attack with 14 kills while Emma Cook finished with 12 kills. Gaye had eight kills and had two blocks with six block assists. Sophia Iglesias finished with 34 assists.
The Titans will wrap up the FSW Tournament Saturday afternoon against No. 5 Utah State-Eastern at 2 p.m.
