The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team lost a heartbreaker 3-2 in the Region 8 Tournament semifinal at Miami Dade College Thursday afternoon.
The Titans led 2-0 at halftime but Miami Dade scored twice in the final five minutes of the contest to stun the Titans. The Sharks advance to the finals of the Region 8 Tournament on Saturday.
Eastern Florida State College struck first when Brienna McCain scored her first goal of the season in the 22nd minute of the contest. Seven minutes later Avery Bracher and Maria Jose Barquero Jackson set up Aoife Farral who finished to make it 2-0.
It would remain 2-0 into halftime.
But the Sharks would score less than two minutes into the second half to cut the lead to 2-1. The teams battled back and forth for much of the second half but with 5:10 left in the contest, Julia Gurgel scored on a penalty kick to tie the game.
Then with two minutes left Gurgel finished a free kick just outside the box to give Miami Dade the lead.
The Titans had one final chance in the final seconds, but the Sharks would hang on for the win.
Eastern Florida State College finishes the season 8-5-1.
