The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team lost its Region 8 Conference opener at Polk State College on Tuesday.
The No. 6 ranked Titans gave up a goal in the final three minutes of the contest to fall for the first time this season, 3-2. The game was delayed almost two hours because of lightning and the final few minutes were played in relative darkness.
The Titans scored in the first 45 seconds of the contest as Avery Bracher broke free and beat the keeper and it was 1-0. It was the fourth goal of the season for Bracher.
But Polk State College would strike back and tied the game with 27 minutes left in the first half.
The clouds rolled in and with 8:45 remaining in the first half it was stopped with lightning in the area. After an hour and 50 minutes, play resumed and it remained tied into halftime.
Polk State took the lead six minutes into the second half and held it until Aoife Farral broke free and tied things up once again. It was the third goal of the season for Farral.
It would remain 2-2 until Polk State got a corner kick with 2:36 remaining and scored the game winner.
Eastern Florida State College will look to rebound on Saturday night when they host Daytona State College at 7 p.m. at Orlando Health Stadium. The Falcons come in unbeaten and the No. 1 team in the nation.
Admission is free and the game will be shown live on WEFS-TV as well as the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
