Men's soccer team hosts Region 8 final on Saturday night
The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team will host Daytona State College in the Region 8 final Saturday night at Titan Soccer Complex
The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team comes into the postseason confident after finishing the regular season on a seven-game winning streak.
The Titans will open the postseason Saturday night, Oct. 28 at Titan Soccer Complex against Daytona State College in the Region 8 final. The teams split the first two meetings, with the Titans winning the last meeting 5-1 on Oct. 10.
"We are playing really well at the moment, guys have accepted their roles on the team and that is what you need – 100 percent buy in," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. "We have done that and everyone is playing well right now."
The defense has been the key during the seven-game streak as the Titans have held opponents to two goals in the seven games.
Freshman Rhys Myers who is a starting defender was on "Inside Titan Sports" talking about the defensive unit.
"We just work really hard as a team, as a unit and we are always talking. We are just a great unit and strikers find it hard to get past us," Myers said.
Offensively, Danilo Orsi Dadomo is leading the state in goals with 16 and has scored three times against Daytona State this season.
But coach Twelvetrees knows it will take a complete game in order to advance.
"We certainly hit form and what it comes down to is winning the region final and it Is win or go home so we need to win that game to have a chance at the district tournament, so three games on the bounce and we feel like we are the strongest side out there but it's a funny game and we need to produce when it matters," Twelvetrees said. "If we do that, good things will happen."
The winner of Saturday night's game will advance to the Southeast District Tournament, which will be hosted by the winner of Region 10 on Nov. 3-4. The winner of the Southeast District will advance to the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament in Prescott, Arizona.
