The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team won a thrilling Citrus Conference game against No. 12 Daytona State College Wednesday on WEFS-TV.
The Titans picked up their fifth straight conference with an 98-93 overtime victory against the Falcons.
The Titans improved to 6-3 in the conference and evened the season series with the win.
Daytona State College led by five points with five minutes left in regulation but an 8-0 run gave the Titans a 77-74 lead with a minute left. But Tyrese Lacey hit a huge 3-pointer that tied the game and ultimately sent the game to overtime.
Jevon Yapi hit a 3-pointer to start the overtime session and then had a steal and a basket to put the Titans up five, 85-80. Lacey kept things close for the Falcons, scoring eight points in the overtime session.
Misael Cruz Rodriguez hit a couple of big free throws to lock up the win for the Titans.
Sean Register Jr. had another big night, finishing with his 10th double double of the season, scoring as season high 30 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in the win. Yapi finished with 14 points while Nick Oliver had 13 off the bench. Tyson Wilson and Cruz Rodriguez each finished with 11 points.
Noah Mendy scored 27 points for Daytona State College while Lacey finished with 24 points.
Eastern Florida State College will hit the road on Saturday for a Citrus Conference game against Miami Dade College. The Titans will be back at home on Feb. 11 against Santa Fe College. The doubleheader begins at 5:30 p.m.
