The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team went 2-0 on the first day of the FSW Tournament in Fort Myers.
After defeating Snow College in five sets earlier in the day, the Titans took the court against No. 10 Trinity Valley College and scored an impressive straight set victory.
The Titans won 25-20, 25-13 and 25-22 to improve to 2-0 on the season.
"Very happy, especially with how we came out today and how the freshmen performed," Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball coach Melito Eleutiza said. "We have good chemistry and everyone understands their responsibilities which is important. I am very happy to go 2-0 here today and hopefully we can continue with this magic tomorrow."
The duo of Leyre Arroyo Sanchez and Jordyn Cox both recorded double digit kills in the match as Cox led the team with 14 while Sanches recorded 12 in the win. Sophomore Emma Cook finished with seven kills while Diara Gaye had six. Sophia Iglesias had 27 assists and 12 digs while teammate Angelis Figueroa finished with a team-high 16 digs.
"I think we did a good job today and we are a young team so we have to keep getting better and finish better and be more aggressive. I think that will come with experience," Eleutiza said.
Eastern Florida State College will be back on the court Saturday morning for the first of two matches on the final day of the FSW Tournament. The Titans will play the College of Southern Idaho at 9 a.m. and then play No. 5 Utah State-Eastern at 2 p.m.
