Volleyball team beats Palm Beach State in straight sets
The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team defeated Palm Beach State College in three sets Monday night
The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team opened the regular season with a straight set win Monday evening.
The Titans defeated Palm Beach State College 25-18, 25-19, 25-13 on the road.
Eastern Florida State College used a 10-4 run to take a 12-6 lead early in the first set and then Yuleidy Torres made a couple of nice digs to keep the team rolling to a 25-18 win.
The second set was closer as the Titans held a 14-13 lead until Giselle Giraud and Rosmarie Rivera had back-to back kills and the Titans went on to post the 25-19 win and teak a 2-0 lead.
A Desiree Cruz block and Torres ace early in the third set got things started as the Titans got up 8-2 and then 10-4 on a Teagan Abraham kill. Down the stretch Cruz had another big block and a couple of kills, including the game-winning kill to give the Titans the win. Giraud finished with 10 kills.
The Titans (1-0) will host Palm Beach State College Wednesday night at 6 p.m. for the home opener at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus. Admission is free for home matches this season.
