Women's tennis team blanks Ave Maria in opener

The Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team opened the 2017 spring season with a 9-0 victory against Ave Maria Friday afternoon.

Luisa Varon, Josephine Karcher, Giulianna Hull and Jamie Duque all won their singles matches while Valeria Arevalo and Armelle Cerdan teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles while Katharina Drebka and Lea Stormer won at second doubles. Brenda Aguilar and Hull won by default in the third doubles.

The Titan women's team, who is No. 7 in the preseason ITA Junior Community College women's tennis ranking will face No. 3 ASA Miami College at 10 a.m. Saturday and then play St. Thomas in the afternoon.
