Titans the No. 1 seed in singles and doubles for women's tennis national tournament
Luisa Varon is the No. 1 seed in singles and is teaming with Josephine Karcher as the No. 1 seed in doubles for the ITA National Small College Championships in Surprise, Arizona beginning Thursday
The seeds are out for the ITA Small National Small College Championships and Eastern Florida State College is the No. 1 seed in both the women's singles and doubles.
Luisa Varon comes into the singles bracket as the No. 1 seed and will play Canada College's Diana Barcelata in the first round. Varon, who is 8-0 in singles matches this fall, will open the national tournament at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Surprise, Arizona.
The team of Varon and Josephine Karcher are the No. 1 seed in the doubles tournament and will open against a team from Glendale Community College in the first round, scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday.
The finals in doubles will be Friday afternoon with the singles championship set for Saturday morning. The singles champion will advance to the Small College Super Bowl, playing the winners of the NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA champions.
The overall winner will receive wild cards into the Division I USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
