Four Eastern Florida women's tennis players vie for titles at Panther Invitational
The Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team looks to finish strong on the final day of the Panther Invitational
Four Eastern Florida State College women's tennis players will play for a title in the Panther Invitational on Sunday.
Luisa Varon will vie for the Flight 1 title at 8 a.m. at the DeSoto Tennis Center after defeating Florida Tech's Maria Chun and Palm Beach Atlantic's Laoni Polzin in straight sets. Varon will face Florida Tech's Erin Egoroff in the championship match. Egoroff defeated Titans' Armelle Cerdan in the first round. Cerdan will play for seventh place at 8 a.m.
In Flight 4, Lea Stormer will play Palm Beach Atlantic's Maya Jovic in the final at 9:30 a.m. at DeSoto courts. Stormer defeated St. Petersburg's Cassandra Perez-Ruiz in the semifinals in straight sets. Perez-Ruiz will play Eastern Florida's Filda Badi who lost to Jovic in a tiebreaker 11-9.
Brenda Aguilar will play in the final in Flight 5 at 11 a.m. at the Kiwi Club against St. Petersburg's Monica Diaz.
Jamie Duque will play Florida Tech's Greta Polo for the title in Flight 7 at the Kiwi Tennis Club after defeating Eckerd's Isabella Wong and Palm Beach Atlantic's Dezi Bowman in straight sets.
Josephine Karcher will play for third place in Flight 2 and Katharina Drebka plays teammate Valeria Arevalo for third place in the third flight.
In Flight 6, Giulianna Hull will play in the fifth-place match at 11 a.m. at DeSoto courts against Eckerd's Bailey Korunich.
