Women's soccer team opens season Wednesday in Tennessee

The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team will open the regular season Wednesday in Tennessee.
The No. 2 ranked Titans will play Motlow State Community College at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Motlow State comes into the contest 2-0 on the season, outscoring opponents 7-2.
"We played some tough preseason matches and Motlow will be a tough matchup to open with. They have been to the national tournament, so we have to be prepared for what they are going to throw at us," Carswell said.
Eastern Florida State College is coming off a 14-win season in which they reached the National Championship Game for the second time in the past four seasons.
But that was last season and head coach Scott Carswell has a brand-new roster this season as one starter from that team is back.
"That has been tough, we are still trying to see who will fill those roles. We have a lot of talent, it is just a matter of finding out how it is all going to come together," Carswell said.
Two of the sophomores on the team, Kamara Simmons and Tiggi Gent are excited to see what this new team is capable of.
"A lot of changes this year and it has been a challenge, but we are doing well. We are learning to work together and I feel we are improving every day," Simmons said. "I am excited and can't wait to see what we can do."
Gent is also excited for this first trip of the season.
"It is going to be a nice trip, we will get to see Nashville after the game but we have to be focused on Motlow first," Gent said. "Everyone is still competing for a spot, so we expect everyone to give it their all. We have bonded well off the field and now it is just a matter of seeing how we are going to work on the field."
That begins Wednesday at 5 p.m.
