The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team locked up the No. 1 seed in the Region VIII Tournament Friday night with a 2-0 win over Daytona State College.
The No. 2 ranked Titans improved to 3-0 in the conference heading into the final game of the regular season.
The first half was well contested as both defenses played well and kept the offenses at bay for most of the half.
Scoreless heading into the second half, the Titans came out aggressively and got on the board six minutes into the half as Courtney Jade Butlion hit a corner to the middle of the box and Julieta Limardo headed it into the back of the net.
It looked as if it would be 2-0 with 23:50 left but Paula Garrido's goal was called back. But Limardo took a pass from Butlion and took two dribbles and hit the upper left corner of the net for the 2-0 lead.
The women's soccer team improved to 7-0 on the season and will host Polk State College Wednesday night at Orlando Health Stadium on the Melbourne campus. Game time is 6 p.m.
