Titan women's soccer team to honor four after Thursday night's game
The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team will host Daytona State College in a Region 8 Conference game. It will also be Sophomore Night for the Titans
The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team will honor four players Thursday night who have lost just three games in their college careers.
Jay Bales, Bunny Shaw, Paula Astiazaran and Darien Davis have helped lead the Titans to a combined record of 25-3 in those two seasons and the team has been the No. 1 team in the NJCAA Division 1 rankings for almost their entire careers. They will be honored following the Titans Region 8 Conference game with Daytona State College at 6 p.m. Thursday at Titan Soccer Complex.
"Four fantastic young ladies will be leaving us after this year. They have contributed to our program in so many ways from their leadership, their soccer talents, their high standards and the strong students they are in the classroom," Eastern Florida State College women's soccer coach Jeff Carr said. "It is always a sad time to say goodbye to young ladies like this that you will remember for a lifetime. I am excited for all of them and their futures after Eastern Florida. They will be missed."
Bales has started every game as a Titan and is a leader in the middle of the field. The Palm Bay High graduate has a goal and four assists this season.
Shaw has been injured for much of the season but still has tallied three goals in her three games this season. The sophomore from Jamaica plays all over the field helping the Titans both offensively and defensively and has scored 14 goals and had eight assists in 14 career games with the Titans.
Astiazaran will leave Eastern Florida as one of the top scorers to ever put on the jersey with 31 goals before a knee injury sidelined her this season. In 22 career games, Astiazaran has accumulated 90 points for the Titans.
Davis transferred to Eastern Florida State College from Florida Gulf Coast University and has made her mark for the Titans, leading the team with 11 goals this season. The speedy forward also has eight assists.
