Titan women's soccer team rolls past Polk State
Nathali Da Silva scored a hat trick while Bunny Shaw added two goals in Eastern Florida State College's 6-0 win over Polk State
Nathali Da Silva and Bunny Shaw showed off some moves, both during the game and after as they led the Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team to a 6-0 Region 8 victory over Polk State at Titan Soccer Complex on Monday night.
The freshman scored her first hat trick as a Titan while Shaw scored twice in her second game back from injury to pace the Titans to their largest win of the season.
"We are coming together," said Da Silva, who now has seven goals this season. "It's one of our best games so far, we gave everything we have."
Da Silva's first goal came just 6 minutes and 35 seconds into the match as Paula Astiazaran's corner kick found an open Da Silva. She would score her second goal 11 minutes later as Darien Davis made a nice pass and Da Silva dribbled past the goalkeeper and scored.
Shaw sent the Titans to halftime with a three-goal lead on a blast from a tough angle.
Just under two minutes into the second half, Shaw would score again, this time after Astiazaran made a nice run through the defense and crossed it to an open Shaw.
Seven minutes later Da Silva finished off the hat trick on an assist from Shaw.
"She had a fantastic game, three big goals and we needed every one of them. Glad to see her start clicking," Eastern Florida State College women's soccer coach Jeff Carr said.
Darien Davis had the final goal of the night, scoring her fifth goal of the season with nine minutes remaining. Astiazaran finished with four assists.
And after each goal, Da Silva and Shaw worked on some dance moves, something Da Silva said comes naturally for the duo.
"I think because Bunny is from Jamaica and I am from Brazil, we like to start the celebrations. We just hear music and start dancing," Da Silva said.
The Titans, who are now 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference, will host Broward College Thursday night at 6 p.m. in a game that will be shown on WEFS-TV and online at efsctitans.com/webcast
