Daytona State College continues to lead at national tournament
The Daytona State College women's golf team leads Seminole State College after three rounds at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament at Duran Golf Club
The Daytona State College women's golf team is 18 holes away from their first NJCAA Division I National Championship since 2018.
The Falcons, who have won the national title 10 times, shot an even par 292 in the third round and lead Seminole State College, who has won the past four national titles, by nine strokes heading into the final round on Thursday at Duran Golf Club in Viera.
Tylar Whiting shot 2-under 71 to lead Daytona State College while Analiese Raath had a 1-under 72 to pace the Falcons.
Raath and teammate Angelica Holman are tied for the individual lead heading into the final round as both are at 8-under for the tournament.
Seminole State College had the lone round under par on Wednesday, shooting 2-under 290. Kalley Kleinatland had the round of the day, shooting 5-under 68 while teammate Salysa Mason shot 3-under 70 and is in third place overall. Kleinatland did not have a bogey in the round with birdies on No. 1, 4, 7 and 8 and then had a birdie on No. 18 to round out the round.
Odessa College remained in third place, shooting a 303 in the third round.
The course once again played tough, but there were three eagles on Wednesday. Barton Community College's Butpaporn Sukterm had a three on the par 5 15th hole and finished even par for the round. Iowa Western's Baylie Pike had an eagle on the par five 11th hole and Odessa College's Claudia Alnajim-Revuelta had an eagle on the par 4 third hole.
The final round of the tournament will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the leaders teeing off at 9 a.m. from the No. 1 tee box for the final round.
