Women's golf team fires 309 to place sixth in season opener
The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team placed sixth in the World Golf Invitational in St. Augustine
The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team shot their best round of the year to finish sixth at the World Golf Invitational Tuesday in St. Augustine.
The Titans shot a 309 in the final round at the Slammer & Squire Course.
Sophomore Delia Timpy shot a 79 Tuesday to finish the tournament tied for ninth overall. Teammate Elise Boccabella shot an even par 72 to move up the leaderboard, finishing tied for 15th overall.
Freshman Valeria Fort shot an 80 in the final round and placed tied for 28th while Olivia Timpy also shot an 80 and finished tied for 48th. Kira Shellman finished tied for 52nd.
"It was a good job by the entire team," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "It is very encouraging to see the team score improve in the second round."
The women's golf team will compete in the Coastal Georgia Spring Invitational next Monday and Tuesday.
