Women's golf team in seventh at World Golf Invitational
The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team in seventh after first round of the World Golf Invitational on Monday
The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team sits in seventh place after the first round of the World Golf Invitational Monday at Slammer and Squire Golf Course in St. Augustine.
The Titans shot a 319 in the first round of the season led by sophomore Delia Timpy who is tied for ninth after shooting a 3-over 75. Timpy shot 1-under on the par-4s in the first round.
Freshman Valeria Fort is tied for 21st with a 78 in her first collegiate tournament. Sophomore Elise Boccabella is tied for 42nd, freshman Kira Shellman is 50th and Olivia Timpy is tied for 51st.
"A good solid round by Delia and good first collegiate round by Valeria Fort," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "The golf course played long after three inches of rain Saturday night."
Limestone University shot a 298 to lead the 14-team tournament with Southeastern University four strokes behind.
Gabrielle Fernandez is also tied for 51st playing as an individual. The final round of the tournament will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
