The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team fell short against Chattahoochee Valley Community College on Saturday in Jacksonville.
The Titans rallied back in the fourth quarter but lost 55-52 to start the season 1-1 at host Florida State College at Jacksonville.
The game was tight throughout the first half with the Titans trailing 28-27 at halftime. Early in the third quarter the Titans grabbed the lead 29-28 and then a big basket by Aniyah Johnson gave them a three-point lead with seven minutes left. But then it was all Chattahoochee Valley, who went on a run to take a double-digit lead heading to the fourth quarter.
Down 44-34, Eastern Florida State College rallied and tied the game with 1:10 remaining. But Chattahoochee Valley would hang on for the win.
Shadia Lara Santacruz led the way with 14 points while Tamara Elliott finished with 11 points and Johnson had 10 for the Titans.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Tallahassee College next Sunday for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
