Eastern Florida State College women's basketball player Amelia Hassett is the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Hassett averaged 24 points, 13.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in two games last week and is the first national player of the week this season.
The sophomore from Albury New South Wales, Australia had 27 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks against Florida Southwestern and then had 21 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks against St. Petersburg. She also did not miss a free throw in the two games.
On Tuesday Hassett was named the Region 8 Player of the Week for the third time this season.
For the season, Hassett is averaging 19.5 points, 13.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. The 13.3 rebounds leads Region 8 as does her 42.3 3-point shooting percentage. Shge recorded her 19th double-double of the season on Tuesday night which broke the program record for most double-doubles in a season.
L'or Eyeba Mputu won the national award last season and Hassett becomes the fourth Titans women's basketball player to win the award.
The women's basketball team will travel to Indian River State College Saturday for a conference game before returning to Titan Field House next Wednesday night against Daytona State College.
