Women's basketball team travels to Florida Southwestern for key conference game
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will face Florida Southwestern Wednesday night in a Citrus Conference matchup
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team hits the road for a Citrus Conference game Wednesday night against Florida Southwestern.
The Titans, who are No. 9 in the latest NJCAA Division I national poll, will play the Bucs in a battle of top teams in the conference at 5 p.m. in Fort Myers.
Eastern Florida State College has won 17 straight games and won the first two meetings this season, winning the first meeting 58-55 and then cruised to a 74-38 win at home. Florida Southwestern leads the series 8-7.
Florida Southwestern comes into the matchup winning three straight conference games and is 8-4 in the conference. A trio of Bucs are averaging double figures this season with Makenna Shaffer is averaging 12.6 points per game while Ashley Lester is averaging 11.4 and Kiana Wilson is scoring 10.8 points.
Eastern Florida State College, who come into the matchup 13-0 in the conference and are 18-3 overall, are led by sophomore Amelia Hassett who is averaging 19 points and 13.3 rebounds per game. Hassett's 19 points per game is second in Region 8 and the 13.3 rebounds leads the state and is tied for fourth in the nation.
