Amelia Hassett named NJCAA Region 8 Player of Week
For the third time this season Amelia Hassett was named the NJCAA Region 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday
Eastern Florida State College women's basketball player Amelia Hassett was named the NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week for the third time this season.
Hassett had a double-double in both games this past week, scoring 18 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and three assists against DME Academy and then had 19 points, 14 rebounds and two assists against Florida Southwestern State College on Saturday.
The sophomore from Albury New South Wales, Australia has recorded nine straight double doubles and has 11 for the season. Hassett is averaging 19.5 points and 14.2 rebounds per game this season. The forward is second in Region 8 in scoring and first in rebounding. The 54.5 field goal percentage is fourth in Region 8 and her 40.7 3-point percentage is fifth in the state.
Hassett's 14.2 rebounds per game is second in the nation and her 19.5 points per game is 12th in the nation.
Hassett and the Titans will travel to St. Petersburg College on Wednesday night for a Citrus Conference match. The team will return to Titan Field House on Wednesday, Jan. 17 against Indian River State College.
