Women's basketball team loses conference game on the road

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team lost to St. Petersburg in a Central Conference game on the road Wednesday night.

The two teams battled back and forth throughout the first two quarters as St. Petersburg held a slim 35-32 lead at halftime.

But the final half of the third quarter belonged to St. Petersburg who hit some big shots to lead by 12 heading into the fourth quarter.

Eastern Florida State College would cut the lead to four with 2:25 remaining but could not get any closer.

Zahria Jenkins and Stephanie Torres each scored 12 in the loss as the Titans fell to 7-3 in the conference and 10-5 overall. 

St. Petersburg got a big game from Domenica Zamora who scored 30 points to help them improve to 11-0 in the conference and 13-1 overall.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Santa Fe Saturday for a 2 p.m. conference game.
