Women's basketball team hosts St. Petersburg tonight in battle of top teams in conference
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team hosts St. Petersburg at 5:30 p.m. in a matchup of the top two teams in the Central Conference
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team hosts St. Petersburg College in a battle of the top two teams in the Central Conference Thursday night.
The game tips off at 5:30 p.m. with both teams coming in on win streaks. The Titans have won seven in a row and are 6-1 in the conference while St. Petersburg has won seven straight and is 8-0 in the conference.
Eastern Florida State College is led by the sophomore trio of Stephanie Torres, Anja Knoflach and Natalia Beaumont. Torres is third in the state in scoring, averaging 17.2 points per game while Knoflach is shooting 39.4 percent from the 3-point line, good for fifth in the state. Beaumont has recorded four double-doubles this season, including two of the past three games and comes into the game averaging 10.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
St. Petersburg College has four players averaging double digits in scoring, led by Domenica Zamora who is averaging 12.8 points per game. Teammates Brittany Wilcox and Megan Watson are each averaging 11.5 points and Isis Triplett is averaging 10 points.
In the first meeting at St. Petersburg, the Titans had the second-lowest scoring output of the season, falling 72-62 on Feb. 6.
Thursday night's game will tip off at 5:30 p.m. and admission is free to Titan Field House but is limited to 75 fans.
