Women's basketball team beats Hillsborough for sixth straight win
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team defeated Hillsborough Community College for their sixth straight win
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team picked up a Central Conference win on the road Monday.
The Titans improved to 8-3 overall and 5-1 in the conference with an 80-70 win over Hillsborough Community College.
The Titans led 17-12 after the first quarter but Hillsborough came back with a strong second quarter to cut Eastern Florida State College's lead to one at halftime, 33-32.
As has been the case most of the season, the Titans came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring Hillsborough 30-17 in the quarter. Hillsborough cut it to 52-49 with 1:58 left in the third but Zahria Jenkins hit a 3-pointer, then Stephanie Torres went coast-to-coast and the was later fouled on a 3-pointer and hit all three free throws to make it 60-49 with 34 seconds remaining. The Titans would head to the fourth quarter leading 63-49.
Torres led the attack with 25 points with six assists and has scored at least 11 points in the past eight games. Natalia Beaumont finished with 20 points while Anja Knoflach went 4-for-5 from the 3-point line to finish with 13 points. Jenkins had 10 points in the win.
The Titans, who have won six in a row, will travel to the Florida State College at Jacksonville on Wednesday before hosting St. Petersburg College Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Titan Field House. Admission is limited to 75 fans and masks must be worn while on campus.
