Women's basketball team beats Florida State College at Jacksonville
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team used a big third quarter to beat the Florida State College at Jacksonville Saturday
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team won its fifth straight game, defeating the Florida State College at Jacksonville 84-56 in a Central Conference game Saturday at Titan Field House.
FSC-Jacksonville led for almost all of the first quarter but midway through the second quarter the Titans took the lead on a Jourdan Avery 3-pointer and then Avery stole the ball around mid-court and scored again to turn a two-point deficit into a three-point lead.
Anja Knoflach hit a 3-pointer to make it 35-29 and went into halftime leading 41-34.
The third quarter was all Eastern Florida State College as they outscored FSC-Jacksonville 22-7 to take a commanding lead. From there the Titans cruised to the win, improving to 7-3 overall and 4-1 in the Central Conference.
Stephanie Torres finished with a team-high 19 points in the game while Avery had a season-high 18 points, 12 in the first half.
Natalia Beaumont finished with her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Zahria Jenkins tied a season high with 11 points.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Hillsborough Community College Monday for a conference game beginning at 5:30 p.m. It is the start of a busy week for the Titans who will travel to Florida State College at Jacksonville on Wednesday and host St. Petersburg College Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
