The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team lost for the third straight time on the road, falling to St. Petersburg 72-62 in the Central Conference opener.
Anja Knoflach's shooting kept Eastern Florida State College in the game throughout the first quarter, but St Petersburg scored five points in the final minute to take a 16-11 lead into the second quarter. St. Petersburg would keep the lead throughout the second quarter, going into halftime with a 31-23 lead.
Eastern Florida State College would cut the lead to four points with 4:09 left in the third quarter but St. Petersburg would extend it to nine once again by the end of the third.
It looked as if Eastern Florida State College would make one final run as Jourdan Avery steals a pass and finds Knoflach for the open 3-pointer to cut the lead to eight with 3:18 remaining. But that would be as close as the Titans would get, falling to 0-1 in the conference and 2-3 overall.
Eastern Florida State College will host Daytona State College in a Central Conference game Wednesday evening at Titan Field House. Tip-off will be at 5 p.m.
