Women's basketball team releases schedule

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will open the regular season Jan. 23 against Miami Dade College.

The Titans, who finished with a program-record 23 regular season wins last season, will play 22 games this season with the FCSAA/Region 8 Tournament scheduled to begin April 7.

The women's basketball team will compete in the Mid-Florida Conference beginning on Feb. 6 on the road against St. Petersburg College. Santa Fe, Daytona State College, Hillsborough Community College and the Florida State College at Jacksonville are also in the conference this season.

Five players return from last year's team including Stephanie Torres who started 21 games and averaged 12 points per game while Anja Knoflach averaged 7.8 points off the bench in her freshman season. Natalia Beaumont started all five games before she suffered a season-ending injury and averaged 17.4 points and nine rebounds in those five games.
