10 softball players named to All-Citrus Conference North teams
The Eastern Florida State College softball team had 10 players named to the All-Citrus Conference North team on Monday as six Titans were named to the first team with four more players making the second team
The Eastern Florida State College softball team had 10 players named to the All-Citrus Conference North team on Monday.
The Titans are heading to the FCSAA D1 Softball Championships as the No. 5 seed and will open the tournament Wednesday night against No. 4 Indian River State College in Clearwater.
On Monday, six Titans were named to the first team with four more players making the second team.
Sophomores Aracelis Jimenez and Avery Velazquez were both named to the first team for the second straight season. Jessica Merk made the second team this year and has also been honored both seasons.
Jimenez hit .471 this season which is third in the FCSAA and scored 75 runs with 23 RBI and stole 38 bases. The sophomore centerfielder was named to the first team as an outfielder.
Avery Velazquez hit .423 this season with 14 doubles, 12 home runs and drove in 71 runs while scoring 60 times. On the mound, Velazquez was 9-5 with a 1.43 ERA in 83 innings pitched. She was an at large selection.
Madison Velazquez finished the regular season hitting an even .400 with six home runs and 50 RBI. She was also an at large selection.
Jaelynne Whipple hit .418 playing third base in her first season with the Titans, hitting an FCSAA-leading 12 triples. She has driven in 43 runs and scored 51 times.
Annalyn Duncan hit .429 this season with an FCSAA-leading 85 runs batted in. The second baseman hit 12 home runs and 19 doubles.
Isabella Rosales is 14-2 this season with a 1.95 ERA in 82 2/3 innings.
Making the second team with Merk was shortstop Isabel Otero, outfielder Kerissa Howell and pitcher Hannah Davis.
Merk hit .329 this season with 47 RBI and scored 37 runs in her sophomore season playing infield and outfield. Otero hit .355 in 51 games this season, scoring 52 runs in her second season with the Titans. Howell hit .354 with 31 RBI and scored 46 runs in 55 games this season while Davis had a good first season on the mound for the Titans, going 7-2 with a 2.48 ERA.
The Titans are the No. 5 seed in the FCSAA D1 Softball Championships and will open the tournament Wednesday night in Clearwater against No. 4 seed Indian River State College. Games will be played on Field 8 and admission to Eddie C. Moore complex is $12. Fans can watch the games live online at the FCSAA Digital Network.
