The Eastern Florida State College softball team is having one of their best offensive seasons in program history.
The Titans head into the final six games of the regular season hitting .379 as a team with 422 runs scored which are both program records.
Individually, four players are cementing their names into the record books.
Jaelynne Whipple is leading the NJCAA Division I softball in triples with 11 heading into this week. Whipple had another triple on Saturday and is hitting .428. She has already set both the season and career records, topping Cassie Boggs' 10 in 2013-14.
Annalyn Duncan has driven in 78 runs this season which is third in the nation and leads the FCSAA. The 78 RBI has set the single season record and she is closing in on the all-time record of 113. The second baseman has also hit 11 home runs which is tied with teammate Avery Velazquez for the single-season record. Both passed Nikki Pennington who had 10 in 2019.
Velazquez also now holds the career home run mark with 19 home runs, topping Pennington's 18 over two seasons. The sophomore has 36 career doubles which is also a program record and also has scored over 100 runs in her career.
On the mound, Velazquez is closing in on the all-time wins list with 31 and has 239 strikeouts which is nine away from the all-time record set by Mandy Hedetniemi-Taylor. Her 29 complete games is also a program record.
Aracelis Jimenez has also already set the single season record with her 68 runs scored this season and heads into her final six games with 125 runs scored in two seasons which is a program best. The leadoff hitter also has scored 68 runs this season which is a single season record and her 125 runs scored in two seasons is also a program record. Jimenez is hitting .455 which is fourth in the FCSAA.
The Titans enter the week 37-13 overall and 23-11 in the Citrus Conference and will be home both Tuesday and Saturday. The 2024 team had 40 wins which is the program mark. Last season's team won 39 games which means the sophomore class has won more games than any group in program history.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Titans will host No. 15 Miami Dade College for a conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday will be the final home game of the season for the Titans when they host the College of Central Florida. The doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. and admission is free to games at Titan Softball Complex.
