Softball team hosts St. Petersburg College Saturday in conference doubleheader
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will host St. Petersburg College in a Citrus Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will host St. Petersburg College in a Citrus Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
The Titans, who are 21-11 in the conference, have won 35 games this season and are hitting .375 as a team which is second in the FCSAA. The team has scored 406 runs this season which is also second in the state.
Aracelis Jimenez leads the team in batting average, hitting .447 in 48 games this season which is fourth in the FCSAA. The leadoff hitter has scored 64 runs which is also fourth in the state. Teammate Annalyn Duncan leads the FCSAA with 76 runs batted in which ranks third overall in the nation. Duncan is hitting .430 this season in 47 games with 15 doubles and 11 home runs.
Jaelynne Whipple is leading both the state and nation in triples with 10 this season. Whipple is hitting .420 this season and has hit three home runs in the past six games and has five for the season.
On the mound, Avery Velazquez has made 10 starts this season and is 7-4 with a 1.22 earned run average which is second in the FCSAA.
St. Petersburg College is coming off a split against the College of Central Florida, winning the second game 10-2. The team is hitting .277 as a team in 48 games this season. Thersea Diez is leading the team hitting .377 in 48 games while teammate Brooke Bonalewicz is hitting .303.
