Avery Velazquez named FCSAA Player of the Week

Eastern Florida State College softball player Avery Velazquez is named the FCSAA Player of the Week for the first time this season on Tuesday.

The sophomore had a huge week, helping the Titans go 4-0 in Citrus Conference games. Velazquez went 11-for-15 with four doubles and three home runs, scoring nine times and drove in 16 runs.

Velazquez hit a home run in three of the four games and now has 11 home runs on the season which is tied for fourth in the FCSAA. She had multiple hits in three games and went 5-for-5 with five RBI in the second game against Hillsborough Community College.

The designated hitter is now hitting .397 with 61 RBI.

Eastern Florida State College will play Daytona State College on the road Tuesday afternoon and return home Saturday for a conference doubleheader against St. Petersburg College beginning at 1 p.m.
