Softball team hits road for conference doubleheader
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will travel to St. Petersburg College for a Citrus Conference doubleheader on Saturday
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will travel to St. Petersburg College for a Citrus Conference doubleheader on Saturday.
The Titans come into the weekend 8-4 which is tied for third in the conference. St. Petersburg College is 4-10 and coming off a win.
Eastern Florida State College is second in the FCSAA in batting average, hitting .387 this season which is 11th in the nation.
Annalyn Duncan comes into the doubleheader leading the FCSAA in runs batted in with 48. The 48 RBI is fifth in the nation. Duncan is hitting .447 with five home runs. Teammate Aracelis Jimenez is leading the team in batting average, hitting .461 in 28 games as the leadoff hitter. Avery Velazquez also has five home runs and has driven in 38 runs for the Titans.
Velazquez and Zoey Mills combined to allow just one run in a doubleheader against Daytona State College and Velazquez has a 1.41 ERA in eight appearances while Mills has a 1.67 in five starts.
St. Petersburg College is hitting. 300 as a team and is led by Thersea Diez who is hitting .424 with a team-high 28 RBI this season while teammate Brooke Bonalewicz is hitting .378.
Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. in Clearwater.
