Softball team hits road for battle of top 6 teams in the country Tuesday
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will head to Indian River State College for a matchup of top six teams in the country on Tuesday
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will head to Indian River State College for a top 10 matchup Tuesday evening.
The Titans, who are ranked sixth in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, are 4-0 in the Citrus Conference and will face The River in a conference doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
Indian River State College is ranked fifth in the national poll and comes into the doubleheader 1-1 in the conference.
It will be a matchup of two of the hottest hitting teams in the FCSAA as the Titans come into the matchup leading the state with a .418 batting average while Indian River State College is third with a .377 average.
The Titans have scored 190 runs in 18 games which is third in the state and fourth in the nation. Annalyn Duncan heads into the week with 38 runs batted in which is tied for the lead in the FCSAA and is tied for third in the nation. Teammate Jaelynne Whipple is hitting .523 which is fifth in the state.
Indian River State College has two players in the top five in stolen bases as Anaise Piar has 19 stolen bases while Braylee Shields has 18. Indian River State College is second in the nation with 88 stolen bases. Jaci Alvey is leading the state in batting average, hitting .557 this season.
Tuesday's doubleheader at Indian River State College is the beginning of a big week for the Titans who will host No. 4 Florida Southwestern State College on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
