Softball team home Friday for conference doubleheader
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will be home on Friday afternoon for the Citrus Conference home opener against Hillsborough Community College
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will be home on Friday afternoon for the Citrus Conference home opener.
The Titans, who are 14-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference, will host Hillsborough Community College in a doubleheader moved to Friday due to bad weather in the forecast.
Hillsborough comes into the contest 0-2 in the conference after being swept by the College of Central Florida. The Hawks are on the road after six straight at home.
Eastern Florida State College has won three straight and are 8-0 at home this season. The Titans are leading the FCSAA in hitting with a .414 batting average and is averaging 10.6 runs per game while the pitching staff has a 2.56 ERA.
Jaelynne Whipple is hitting .550 this season and her six triples leads the FCSAA and NJCAA Division I softball. Teammate Annalyn Duncan is tied for second in the FCSAA in runs batted in with 31 which is fifth in the nation. The second baseman is hitting .451. Aracelis Jimenez is hitting .529 this season.
Hillsborough's Alexis Page is hitting .439 while teammate Daijah Madry is batting .404 this season.
Friday's doubleheader will begin at noon at Titan Softball Complex and admission is free. Fans can also watch the games live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
