The Eastern Florida State College softball team finished the Courtney Miller Invite with a big win against Tallahassee State College Friday afternoon at Soldiers Creek Park.
The Titans exploded for six runs in the fifth inning and finished the game in the sixth for a 12-4 victory.
Aracelis Jimenez led off with a single and Isabel Otero laid down a perfect bunt and reached on an error. Both would come around to score and the Titans led 2-0 after the first inning.
Up 2-0, the Titans would score three more times in the third inning as Annalynne Duncan had an RBI single and Jaelynne Whipple drove in two runs on an error in the outfield.
Hannah Davis got the start and shut out Tallahassee for the first three innings. But the Eagles struck in the fourth inning for a couple of runs.
Leading 5-2, Tallahassee would score two more runs and looked like they would tie the game but Duncan made a nice diving catch at second base to get out of the jam.
Otero and Avery Velazquez both singled to start the fifth inning, then Duncan would hit an RBI single, then Whipple would hit an RBI double while Jessica Merk hit a two-run single as the Titans would end up scoring six times and lead 11-4.
Avery Velazquez had a 1-2-3 sixth inning and the Titans came back up and Whipple ended the game with an RBI single.
Jimenez finished with three hits while Otero scored three times in the win.
Eastern Florida State College will open the Citrus Conference season on Tuesday afternoon, traveling to Seminole State College for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
