Softball team travels to Daytona State College for conference doubleheader

The Eastern Florida State College softball team will hit the road for a key Citrus Conference matchup against Daytona State College on Tuesday.
The 19th-ranked Titans, who are 15-11 in the conference, will face No. 10 Daytona State College for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
Both teams are coming off big conference wins last weekend as Eastern Florida State College swept No. 21 Santa Fe in a doubleheader while Daytona State College split with No. 1 Florida Southwestern, winning Game 2 7-6 in nine innings.
Eastern Florida State College has won six straight and is in the hunt for a postseason berth. Daytona State College is one game ahead in the standings at 14-10 and is 8-2 in their past 10 games.
Offensively, the two teams are ranked fifth and sixth in the FCSAA as Daytona State College is hitting .328 while the Titans are hitting .327 as a team. Both teams also have team ERAs under 2.75.
Ava Unser leads the Falcons with a 1.91 ERA in 21 starts and has struck out 114 in 124 1/3 innings of work. Offensively, Aurielle Reavis is hitting .411 with seven doubles while teammate Morgan Davis is hitting .388 with seven doubles and a home run.
Avery Velazquez is in the top five in the state in ERA (1.33), wins (17) and strikeouts (123) this season and also has four saves. The freshman is also hitting .404 in 44 games this season with four home runs and has driven in 47 runs. Teammate and sister Madison Velazquez is hitting .400 in 26 games this season.
Daytona State College won the first two meetings of the season on March 4 at Titan Softball Complex.
The Titans will be back at home on Saturday against St. Petersburg College beginning at 1 p.m. at Titan Softball Complex. Admission is free and fans can watch the games live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
