Softball team home for doubleheader Saturday

The Eastern Florida State College softball team will host Hillsborough Community College in a Citrus Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon.

The Titans, who are ranked 18^th in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, come into the doubleheader at Titan Softball Complex 6-6 in the conference and 21-9 overall. The Titans are 2-4 in their last six games as they look to get back on track Saturday.

Avery Velazquez, who was named the FCSAA Player of the Week last week, is leading the team both on the mound and at the plate, hitting .433 with four home runs and 31 RBI and is 13-5 with a 1.12 ERA on the mound with 98 strikeouts in 118 1/3 innings.

Hillsborough Community College comes into the game looking to snap a 10-game losing streak and is led by Daijah Madry who is hitting .313 in 20 games.

Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. and admission is free to games at the Titan Softball Complex. Fans can also watch the game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
