Avery Velazquez named Softball Player of the Week

Eastern Florida State College freshman Avery Velazquez was named the FCSAA Softball Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Velazquez had a big week as the Titans went 2-2 in Citrus Conference play, hitting .563 in the four games with two doubles, a home run and drove in eight runs.

With the game tied 2-2 on Saturday, Velazquez came up with the bases loaded, Velazquez hammered a pitch over the wall to give the Titans a commanding lead. It was her fourth home run of the season.

For the season, Velazquez is hitting .432 with 10 doubles and has driven in 30 runs.

The No. 18 Titans will travel to No. 9 Seminole State College Tuesday for a conference doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Eastern Florida State College will be back at Titan Softball Complex on Saturday for a doubleheader against Hillsborough Community College beginning at 1 p.m.
