Roberts, Smith, Snyder Earn All-Conference First Team Honors

Three Eastern Florida softball players have earned FCSAA All-Southern Conference first team honors.

Sophomore first baseman Hannah Roberts, from Palm Harbor, Florida and East Lake High, was selected in the infield category while classmate Alexa Snyder, from Las Vegsas and Cimarron Memorial High, was selected as a pitcher and freshman Karli Smith, from Miami and Florida Christian School, was honored in the at-large category.

Earning second team honors were sophomores catcher Taylor Zitiello, from Ponte Vedra, Florida and Ponte Vedra High, infielder Natasha Kistler, from Jacksonville, Florida and Bishop Snyder High, and outfielders Rosie Lyard, from Quebec, Canada and École Secondaire Cardinal-Roy and Sarah Hart, from Satellite Beach, Florida and Satellite High.

Zitiello was a first-team pick in 2015 while Kistler was a second-team honoree.

Roberts and Smith have been the big sticks for the Titans.

Roberts leads in hits with 52 and triples with four.

Smith is second in hits with 47. She leads in home runs with six, doubles with 13, extra base hits with 18, total bases with 82, runs batted in with 46, batting average at .379, on base percentage at .462 and slugging percentage at .661.

Lyard leads in runs with 39 and stolen bases with six.

In the pitching circle Snyder is 17-15 with a 2.71 earned run average and 129 strikeouts in 186 innings. Smith is 5-6 with three straight victories.

The Titans are ranked 10th in Florida. They finished second in the conference with a 12-8 record, their best result since finishing second in 2010.

Eastern Florida will compete in the NJCAA District/FCSAA Tournament at Historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach April 29-May 1. This is the Titans 12^th straight appearance.

Conference Coach of the Year was Dale Atkinson of champion Indian River State College. Conference Pitcher of the Year was Valerie Alvarado of Indian River State and Conference Player of the Year was Jessica Mohl, also of Indian River.
