Men's tennis team edges Weatherford in top 10 matchup

The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team edged No. 10 Weatherford College Saturday at the Tyler tournament in Texas.

The Titans defeated Weatherford 5-4 and have gone 3-0 at the tournament.

In doubles, the duo of Pablo Garcia and Ignacio Sendra picked up an 8-5 win at No. 2 while Johan Mottlau and Tomas Kurz won 8-4 at No. 3.

Weatherford won the first two singles matches but Garcia won his match at No. 3 singles 7-5, 6-0 while Mottlau won at No. 4 singles 7-6(8) and 6-4. Sendra picked up a win at No. 6 singles, splitting the first two sets 6-3, 5-7 and then won the tiebreaker 10-5.

Eastern Florida State College will wrap up the Tyler tournament on Sunday morning, facing host and No. 1 Tyler Junior College.
