The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team finished the first day undefeated on Friday at the Tyler tournament in Texas.
The No. 3 ranked Titans defeated No. 6 Collin College 6-3 and are 2-0 in the Tyler Tournament.
Once again the Titans won the doubles match, picking up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Filip Sormaz and Pablo Garcia won their doubles match 8-5 and then Johan Mottlau and Tomas Kurz won 8-4.
Up 2-1 after doubles, Fernando Martnez won at No. 1 singles 7-5, 6-1 while Filip Sormaz won at No. 2 singles in a tiebreaker. Sormaz lost the first set 6-4 but won the second set 7-5, sending the match to a tiebreaker. Sormaz dominated the tiebreaker, winning 10-3.
Mottlau came storming back to post a win at No. 4 singles. After losing the first set 6-3, Mottlau won the second set 6-1 to force a tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker, Mottlau won 10-5.
Ignacio Sendra won at No. 6 singles 6-3, 6-3 to give the Titans a 6-3 win.
Eastern Florida State College will face No. 10 Weatherford on Saturday in Tyler, Texas.
