EFSC men's tennis team battles top teams in nation
The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team played some of the top teams in the country this weekend in Pensacola
The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team faced four of the top 10 teams in the nation over the weekend in the Pensacola Invitational.
The men's team opened the weekend with a 7-2 victory over Harford Community College, who is No. 9 in the ITA NJCAA Men's Tennis rankings.
In doubles matches, Danrich Kruger and Jesus Amezcua won a tight match 9-7 while Andreas Wejs and Alwyn Mushonga won the No. 3 doubles match 8-4.
In singles matches, Kruger, Amezcua, Mushonga, Aduardo Garcia and Wejs all picked up wins.
The Titans lost matches against No. 5 Seward County Community College, No. 4 Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and No. 1 Tyler Junior College.
Against Tyler, Kruger picked up the lone win in a match that went to a tiebreaker. After losing the first set to T Pardo 7-6 (4), he came back with the 6-3 win and then posted the 10-5 tiebreaker win.
The Titans will travel to Keiser University to play the JV team Wednesday before hosting Franklin Pierce Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. The match can be seen live at WEFS-TV and online at efsctitans.com/webcast
