Titan men's tennis players to play for title in Panther Invitational
The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team is in the finals in three of the six flights at the Panther Invitational
The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team will play for titles in three of the six flights in the Panther Invitational.
In the top flight it will be an all-EFSC final as Jesus Amezcua will play teammate Samir Chikhaoui for the title. Amezcua defeated Florida Tech's Aria Canadell and Florida Southern's Fabian Lundberg in straight sets while Chikhaoui beat Eckerd's Victor Appelquist and Palm Beach Atlantic's Philipp Hoffmann in straight sets.
The final is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the DeSoto Tennis Center.
In Flight 3, Pablo Munoz will play Florida Tech's Gerard Carpinell in the final at 12:30 p.m. at the DeSoto courts. Munoz defeated Eckerd's Matt Spasic and battled back after losing the first set against Palm Beach Atlantic's Thomas Salmon to make the final.
Maximiliano Faundez will play in the final in Flight 4 after winning two matches in a third set tiebreaker on Saturday. Faundez will play Palm Beach Atlantic's Pietro De Silva in the final.
Eduardo Garcia (Flight 2) and Andreas Wejs (Flight 5) will both play in third-place matches as Garcia will face Eckerd's Eddie Lewis at 1 p.m at DeSoto while Wejs will play Palm Beach Atlantic's Carlos Meneses at 1 p.m. at the Kiwi Tennis Club. Justin Aganon will play in the fifth-place match in Flight 6 at 2 p.m. at DeSoto courts.
