The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team will host Miami Dade College in a Region 8 Tournament Semifinal game on Thursday night.
The Titans, who come into the matchup 10-2-1 and are coming off a 1-0 win over No. 3 Daytona State College, will play the Sharks for the third time this season. The series is tied 1-1 this season as both teams have won on the road. Both games were one goal games, setting up an exciting semifinal on Thursday.
"At this point, it's always fun to have a bit of a decider, getting to play someone three times," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Adam Butler said. "I think both teams have a point to prove and fans get to see two good teams face off once again."
Miami Dade College comes into the postseason on a two-game losing streak but both games were one-goal games. They had won four of the past five before that and come in 6-10-2.
The Sharks are led by a trio of defensive players who were named to the All-Region 8 team. Defenders Jeremy Levivier and Daniele Malanga along with midfielder Matteo DePalo have helped the Sharks allow 1.39 goals per game.
Eastern Florida State College also had three players recognized as forwards Joao Victor Loureiro and Henry Crosthwaite as well as midfielder Ocira Lazarus made the All-Region 8 team. The Titans are averaging 3.38 goals per game.
The Titans are the defending Region 8 Tournament champions as they defeated Miami Dade in the final last season. They look to do the same this year beginning Thursday. The winner of Thursday night's game will play in the final on Saturday night at Daytona State College.
Thursday's game at Orlando Health Stadium will begin at 7 p.m. and admission is free. Fans can also watch the game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
