The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team finished the regular season with a Region 8 Conference win over No. 3 Daytona State College Thursday night at Orlando Health Stadium.
The seventh-ranked Titans picked up the 1-0 victory to finish the regular season 10-2-1 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
The first half was scoreless as each team had chances but the defenses both rose to the occasion.
Tied 0-0 at halftime, the second half began with some good runs from Daytona State College but Kwame Asante and Yuto Inaba both made great plays to end threats.
Titans goalkeeper Will Blease made some big saves and finished with six saves.
With 12 minutes and 23 seconds left in the game, Henry Crosthwaite made a nice run down the left side and centered a ball perfectly to Alvin Ssekamate. Ssekamate did not hesitate, hitting a nice shot into the back of the net to give the Titans a 1-0 lead.
From there the Titans kept the Falcons at bay to pick up the win.
It was the first loss for Daytona State College in eight games and first time they have allowed a goal in four games.
Both teams will advance to the Region 8 Tournament next week as the Titans will host Miami Dade College Thursday night at 7 p.m. in the Region 8 Tournament semifinals at Orlando Health Stadium.
The winner will play Daytona State College Saturday at Daytona State College.
